Following last week’s teaser, Volkswagen introduced the New Tarok pickup concept at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil.
The car seems to be quite ready for production, so it may be a little unfair to say the concept. Volkswagen announced that it will soon launch its production model in Brazil. It is not yet known whether the new model will take place in other markets. Avangart pickup may also attract great interest in other global markets.
Volkswagen defines Tarok as a “digital network connected SUV” and a 5-metre pickup with a smart design. Tarok is a little smaller than Amarok and is not a lifestyle-oriented one. This is the design in which the rear case and the bodywork form an integral part.
Tarok’s most important feature is the variable loading area that connects with the Cabinet. The loading area can be expanded thanks to the folding rear panel and is connected to a five-seat double cabinet. Tarok has a maximum carrying capacity of 1 ton.
The targa-like portbagaj, the front part resembling the Atlas Tanoak concept, and the three-dimensional LED strip on the tailgate are among the key design features.
A modern console in the cabin and a virtual cockpit with large touch screens attract attention. Air conditioning controls are still Digital. The horizontal strip in Cypress metallic color connects the interior visually to the outside of the vehicle.
The Tarok concept uses the MQB platform that Volkswagen prepares for passenger cars in an extraordinary way for a pickup. The car features 150 PS (148 bhp) 1.4-litre TSI four-cylinder engine. The engine can only be used with ethanol or ethanol and gasoline. In addition, the car features a six-speed automatic transmission and a permanent 4Motion four-wheel drive system.
The production model will include a 2.0-liter TDI turbo diesel engine with the same power output. Volkswagen has not yet announced what markets Tarok will be offered outside Brazil.
