On Wednesday, Senator John Kennedy (R., La.) Brought a proposal to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) for six months, while the US Senate was preparing to overhaul changes to a farm bill.

Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La.) Is now the Senate farm law, dated 2018, Agriculture and Nutrition Act, in H.R.2. It is expected to vote in full bill Thursday.

Unless action is taken, the NFIP program will end on July 31.

“The National Flood Insurance Program is on the verge of end-of-life as bad as possible. This is the middle of the whirlwind season, and we can not even come in August, which is typically the worst hurricanes, “says Kennedy. “This six-month deal will give us time to work on longer reauthorization and much-needed reforms. Besides, you will not have to worry about any time the Louisiana families are raining. “
