School Bus Overturns on New Jersey Turnpike, 36 People Hurt

Officials say a school bus taking families home from a picnic crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike, sending dozens of people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka says the bus was returning to Newark from his annual Mayor’s Family Reunion/Picnic at Black Bear Lake Country Club in Millstone when the accident happened around 5:25 p.m. Saturday in East Brunswick.
At a press conference Saturday night, Baraka said the reports were false, indicating that the accident was caused by a crash involving a crash and a car. He said the accident was under investigation.

The mayor said that at the age of 18, 36 people were injured in the accident, including 17 people. The wounded were sent to three hospitals; None of them sustained life-threatening injuries.

The accident, which caused the bus to topple, took place in the northern strips of the return road.
