Officials Say Maryland Construction Worker Died in Elevator Shaft Fall


Firemen in Maryland say a construction worker died after falling to the elevator shaft.

The WBAL is located in Cockeysville, Md.

Michael David Zeller was working in a renovated building. A preliminary study shows that Zeller may have fallen about 20 feet. It also seems to be trapped between a wall and an elevator counterweight.

The rescue teams were able to pull Zeller out. However, at the age of 31, the scene was pronounced dead.

The incident is in the investigation phase. In addition to the local police, Maryland Job Security and Health authorities were involved in the investigation.
