A northwestern Indiana man alleges in a federal lawsuit that he suffered a traumatic brain injury when a police officer ran a red light and struck his vehicle in 2016.

Carlos Gallegos-Esqueda of Hammond is suing the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and others for damages.
Lake County Sheriff Officer claims that his actions in the attack on June 2016 by Anibal Ramos showed “a deliberate indifference to the lives of those around him”.
(Northwest Indiana) Times police report said Ramos said police officers chased a possible drunk driver when an accident occurred.

Gallegos-Esqueda’s team claims that Ramos fell into his vehicle and was not followed up as he suffered from traumatic brain injury and other injuries.

In Lake County, his commissioner and Ramos denied that there were any inaccuracies in the court files.
