Delaware Woman Charged with Falsely Reporting Carjacking

Delaware State Police say a woman who claimed to be the victim of a carjacking set up by an intentional crash has turned herself in to face criminal charges.

Thirty-year-old Jane Macauley of Middletown, Del., surrendered to state police on Tuesday and was charged with insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident. She was released on $2,000 unsecured bail.
Macauley reported in April that his car was being run by another vehicle on Route 71 in Bear, Del. After he and the other driver pulled in, he said that the other driver would get on the car and drive a passenger while driving. The car moved to the driver’s seat and drove it in the car.

Police say Macauley has reported the incident incorrectly to make a false insurance claim.
