Death of New Jersey Ship Worker Killed by Falling Planks Was Accident


New Jersey state police say the death of a ship worker killed when two steel planks fell on him has been ruled an accident.
Basim Gilliard was struck on Sunday at 9:15 pm, unloading a load from Erdemli Striker, who was anchored in the Delaware River at Paulsboro Harbor. The 26-year-old Pennsauken, N.J., was soon pronounced as dead.
Other details of the accident were not disclosed, including the cause of the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The accident is under investigation by the US Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
