Boeing Defends 737 MAX Planes as Safe Amid Calls for More Pilot Training

Aviation authorities in Indonesia and India on Thursday pushed for more simulator training for Boeing Co 737 MAX pilots following the deadly Lion Air crash, while the world’s largest planemaker reiterated that its top-selling jetliner was safe.

Boeing Chief Executive Officer Dennis Muilenburg told a CNBC interviewer on Thursday he was “very confident” in the safety of the 737 MAX, the newest version of a jet that has been a fixture of passenger travel for decades.
. We know our planes are safe, Mu Muilenburg said. “We haven’t changed our design philosophy.“

Muilenburg’s comments, the same day, India’s aviation regulator 737 MAX pilot of the suspects leading to an accident, the scenario should be trained on a simulator said. Indonesia’s Ministry of Transport said it would bring new requirements for simulator training.

Also Thursday, Lion Air confirmed in Reuters’ report that the jetliner was considering canceling the 737 MAX order after entering the Java Sea on October 29th.

Lion Air, a private airline company, has become one of 197’s largest export customers, with 190 Boeing jets worth $ 22 billion at list prices pending delivery. Other MAX customers, including large US carriers, reiterated that they were safe on the plane.

Collision researchers focus on the possibility that a new anti-stall system, which repeatedly pushes the nose of the Lion Air jet-leader, is fed with faulty data from a faulty sensor left in place after a previous dangerous flight.

Boeing said the cockpit procedures applied to the previous flight were already in place to solve such a problem. However, US regulators said Boeing’s 737 MAX did not outline recent changes in the automated system in their handbook, but said they were also investigating a possible software fix.
SIMULATOR TRAINING
Extra training became an important focus after the accident.

Managing Director Daniel Putut said last week that Lion Air is expecting its 737 MAX simulator next year.

The aviation training firm CAE said it could cost between $ 6 million and $ 15 million, depending on how a simulator could be privatized and lasted for a year.

CAE sold about 30 737 MAX simulators to airlines all over the world.

Southwest Airlines Co., the Lion Air’s accident before a MAX simulator, and American Airlines is working for training with pilots, he said.

Separately, American Airlines added that the pilot pilot materials encountered by Lion Air pilots and the differences between the MAX and its predecessor 737NG were discussed. The pilot represents American Airlines pilots of Allied Pilots Association (APA) spokesman Dennis Tajer.

Boeing’s shares fell by about 3 percent due to broader concerns of US-Chinese tensions on trade.
