500 Vehicles in South Dakota RV Lot Damaged by Hail

An RV dealership in western South Dakota says a recent hail storm damaged about 500 trailers and motorhomes, resulting in millions of dollars in damages.

The Rapid City Journal reports the storm produced hailstones ranging in size from a quarter to a grapefruit. The hail hit an area spanning from eastern Wyoming across the Black Hills.
Keith Ness works at the Campers RV party at Jack in Piedmont. Almost every trailer on the outside has been seriously damaged. Ness and other employees mixed the broken roof ventilation holes and replaced the cracked RV windows to cover it with tape and plastic cover.

Ness estimates that the half of the inventory is new and that many people will have a total loss.

The nearby Interstate 90 also saw glass shields and windows full of about two dozen cars.
